Phone camera versus real camera
Phone camera photography versus a real camera photography. What’s the deal?
A photographer’s perspective on phone cameras, professional cameras, AI and why the experience matters more than the image itself.
I was chatting to a friend about phone photography vs using a camera, and honestly… they’re just not the same thing.
Phones are amazing for everyday moments, quick snaps, memories on the go, capturing life as it happens. I use mine all the time. But when it comes to creating something intentional…
something you’d actually want to print and hang on your wall, that’s where a camera makes all the difference.
Phone images are generally small files, and most of the time they’re unplanned. They’re not created with light, depth, or printing in mind.
And now we have AI as another layer.
Yes, you can create images of your family with AI…
but you can’t create the experience.
You can’t recreate the laughter, the chaos, the moments in between, or the memories made while you’re actually there together.
It allows for planning, shaping light, and creating files that hold up beautifully in print — especially large prints.
Phone photos are for now.
AI images are for imagination.
Camera portraits are for forever.
and it all comes down to what do you really value?
